Nuts and Bolts of College Applications for Seniors Who Do Not Have First Semester American Government at Roosevelt

On Tuesday 10/4 counselors are visiting all American Government classes to talk about the nuts and bolts of college applications, and will hand out a summary of what students need to know about submitting college applications, getting letters of recommendations and submitting ACT or SAT test scores. If you are not in American Government at Roosevelt first semester, we want to make sure you still get this practical, time sensitive and important information. Wendy Krakauer, Head Counselor, will be in the Career Center during both lunches on Tuesday 10/4 to meet with all interested seniors who do not get the benefit of a classroom visit so that you too will be on top of applying to four year colleges.

Want to be a Academic Tutor? Want to get community Service Hours? Want to add your tutoring to your resume? Come to our Academic Coaches meeting on Monday, Oct. 3rd in the Career Center after school. Mrs. Bailey

Boys Basketball Preseason Meeting Oct. 4th 2:45 outside the Weight Room. This meeting is for anyone that wants to tryout about the paperwork and all the other requirements needed to get on the practice roster. BB

RHS Girls Basketball Pre-season Meeting: Important meeting on Friday October 7 at 3:00 PM, in room 247, for all girls interested in playing basketball for the Lady Riders this year. We will provide paperwork and other info necessary for the 2011-2012 season. RJ

Upward Bound Join Upward Bound! Now accepting applications from eligible 9th, 10th and 11th graders. Priority goes to all applicants who submit paperwork by Thursday, Oct. 13th. The Scholarship Season has begins today: Scholarship Bulletin Number 1 now online. This issue features scholarship and financial aid information contact information and websites for the schools in WA state. The Scholarship Bulletin will customarily come out every two weeks until April/May, depending on if there are scholarships coming to the building then. In addition the Scholarship website suggests a systematic method to handle financial aid and scholarships. Sand Point Family Housing located in Magnuson Park is looking for volunteers to help with tutoring for formerly homeless children. High School volunteers are needed weekdays from 3:30 -5:30. Dates are flexible to your schedule. This is a great and rewarding way to earn your Roosevelt service hours. If interested please email sandpointtutoring@yahoo.com
