Ever wonder why our yearbook is called Strenuous Life? Well, our namesake-Teddy Roosevelt-in April 1899 said, "I wish to preach, not the doctrine of ignoble ease, but the doctrine of the strenuous life, the life of toil and effort, of labor and strife; to preach that highest form of success which comes, not to the man who desires mere easy peace, but to the man who does not shrink from danger, from hardship, or from bitter toil, and who out of these wins the splendid ultimate triumph.'
Roosevelt High School has published a yearbook annually since 1923. Our award-winning full-color publication is distributed in June, to those who order their copies now! Purchase yours:
- Now through the end of September: as part of your Activity Card Combo for $85 (THE BEST DEAL!) Buy this on Roughrider Day, September 6th, or in the bookroom during lunches and before school. Check the bookroom schedule for hours.
- After September: Purchase the yearbook separately for $45 in the Bookroom in October or March during both lunches and before school, or contact Janine Magidman after school hours. Watch the bulletin for the weeks when sales are happening.
Because of our costs and low price this year there will be no additional discounts. However, you can pay for your yearbook in three installments of $15.00.
We sold over 1200 copies of the 2011 yearbook and sold out completely. Make sure you pre-order and pay in full by March 1st to receive a book on distribution day in June.
Strenuous Life Graduation Ads for Seniors
Parents, guardians, friends of 2012 Seniors: place your order early for your "Grad Ad!" Send us your favorite photo(s) and message for your graduating senior and we'll design a lovely ad up to half a page for the 2012 edition of Strenuous Life. A limited number of pages will be printed, so get your ad in early. Download the Yearbook 2012 Graduate Ad Form or pick up a paper copy from the Main Office. You will receive a proof of your ad to review before publication.
All Grad Ads orders must be turned in by January 30th, 2012 to be guaranteed a spot in the book. Ads will be sold on a space-available basis after that date, through the end of February.
Prior Year Strenuous Life Yearbooks For Sale
Help support the yearbook program with a $20 donation for a vintage yearbook and revisit your Roughrider days. Please contact Janine Magidman at jtmagidman@seattleschools.org. Requests made during August will be filled in September. We have copies of the Strenuous Life for many of the years from 1926 through 2004.
