Learn the “nuts and bolts” of Roosevelt high school and how to get your new student off on the best possible foot. Learn about the attendance policy, how to communicate with teachers and how to stay involved in your student’s life. Sarah Chapman, RHS Counselor.
TRYING TO MAKE SCHEDULE CHANGES? Starting after school Thursday 9/8, students may come in and sign up for appointments to see if they can change their schedules, class size permitting, September 9 - September 20. Note: we do not normally make teacher changes within a subject unless we are moving you to a smaller class. Wendy Krakauer, Head Counselor
IMPORTANT: PUBLIC HEARING ON ROOSEVELT REZONE Monday, September 19, 2011 6:00PM (corrected) in RHS Auditorium. A new Sound Transit station will be built underground on the QFC lot on 12th Avenue. There is a City legislative rezone proposal to increase density and provide more affordable housing around the station by raising height limits near the project. Height limits would go from 40ft to 65ft south of Roosevelt HS and from 65ft to 85ft across 12th Avenue west of the school. Email your RHS PTSA co-presidents Sharon Rodgers and Peter Nestingen with your comments: this will have a big impact on Roosevelt HS and we would like to share the top concerns and values at the Public Hearing.
Background information: City Council Aug 10 meeting video, City Documents, Roosevelt Neighborhood Association.
PTSA BACK-TO-SCHOOL RESOURCE NIGHT FOR FAMILIES Wednesday, Sept 21, 7pm. Roosevelt HS PTSA Meeting in Roosevelt Library. Meet with Mr. Vance and fellow parents who can help you figure out the best places to get involved at Roosevelt. This is your opportunity to get your questions answered!

HOST FAMILY NEEDED A host family is needed for a High School Foreign Exchange student for the 2011/2012 school year. A potential host family is needed for students coming from the following countries: Germany, Brazil, Sweden, Spain, Vietnam, Austria, Denmark, South Korea, China, Norway, Belgium, Thailand, Japan and France. Students come with good English skills, full health insurance and their own personal spending money, and mainly the desire to be a member of an American family. We ask our families to provide a bed (shared room is okay with similar age range) and meals eaten with the family. For more information about the students and the program, contact Jamin Henderson at 360-661-0552 or j.henderson33@hotmail.com.
WHAT IS THE PTSA? The PTSA supports many programs at RHS as well as sponsors and maintains the RHS website, weekly bulletin communications and the monthly Rider Record publication. Without your membership and donations, we would not be able to support these communications. Thank you for your support!
