Mandatory PE CBA for Students in the Class of 2013 and 2014. Wed, April 10. Juniors, if you want to graduate, no matter how many PE classes or waivers you have, if you have NOT taken the Personal Fitness PE class at Roosevelt, you WILL need to take the PE CBA, a 45 minute multiple choice test. Seniors, if you have not taken the Personal Fitness class and missed this test last year for any reason, including because you are new to Roosevelt, you also need to take this test. The “second sitting” of this test is April 10. Students last name L-Z have priority, but if you were supposed to take the test on March 13 and did not, you will want to be there on April 10. Show up in the Theatre at 9am with a #2 non-mechanical pencil. April 10 is a late arrival day so you will not miss any class time. This is a requirement for graduation. Here is a link to a short study guide. Read through the study guide and you will be able to pass the test.
Attention RHS Parents/Guardians of students receiving Special Education Services: Parent/Guardian Meeting, Tuesday April 23, 7-9pm in the RHS Library. We are an informal group for RHS parents/guardians of students receiving special education services (IEP/504). The idea is to have a place where we can meet each other, get support, share ideas and resources, and discuss common issues and concerns. All interested parents/guardians are welcome. If you have questions, contact Peggy Peterson, pegpete56@yahoo.com.
Senior Awards Night Volunteer Coordinator Needed: Senior Awards Night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29. It is a Roosevelt tradition for parents of juniors to work with Dr. Beaston to help make the evening special with decorations and refreshments. There is already a list of willing volunteers to help, but we are looking for a coordinator. Last year's Lead is available to offer advice and a resource file, and there is some money available from the PTSA to support the event. If you would like to help coordinate this event or have questions, please contact Dr. Beaston or Pat Johnson. Thanks!
Looking for a few good volunteers! Graduation is approaching quickly (June 12, 8 pm, at Memorial Stadium) and we need about a dozen volunteers to perform some very basic tasks: collect tickets at the door, hand out programs, direct people to seating areas, check-in seniors as they arrive, etc. These tasks are typically handled by Junior, Sophomore and Freshman parents and students, so that Senior parents may enjoy the festivities with their families. You are welcome to stay and watch the ceremony, listen to all the wonderful speakers, clap for your favorite graduates and dream about what this day will be like for you in the next few years! If interested, please contact Susie Remley at waremley@hotmail.com. On behalf of the Senior Class and their parents - Thank You!
Join Us! Attention Class of 2015 Parents (Sophomores): The Class of 2015 still needs a parent rep group. For the classes of 2013 & 14, the parent rep groups have organized fundraising and community building events, and continue to work with students to organize and support senior year activities. If interested in learning how you can help, check out the PTSA website to learn more, and contact Allison Fitzgerald ( aafbwh@msn.com) to volunteer!
Host family needed: The Bosnian Youth Leadership program, sponsored by the US State Department, is looking for two more hosts for PART of the upcoming visit by young people from Bosnia. We need a places for two girls, ages 15 and 17, from April 20 to May 1 only. Their planned host family is out of town for this part of the visit. The girls could be together or in two homes. They are not allergic to pets, but would feel more comfortable in a home without pets, or with small, “low-impact” pets. Contact Ellen Frierson ellen@fiuts.org if this is something you can do. This is a school-approved program, with local logistics run by the FIUTS program at the UW. Questions? Contact Ellen or Janine Magidman jtmagidman@seattleschools.org .
