COMMUNITY NEWS
Host Families needed for exchange students
- Host families needed in July for French students. Connections, Inc., based in Woodinville, WA, is again bringing a small group of teens from France to Seattle July 12 - August 2nd. Last summer we placed many with RHS families and it was a wonderful experience for everyone involved. The students will be taken on organized site-seeking trips Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. That leaves them free to spend weekends with their host families. If you can host during all or part of this time period, please contact Patty Turnberg, the Seattle Coordinator and former RHS mom, at p.turnberg@comcast.net.
- Your home could welcome a student (you choose boy or girl) and they would attend the high school closest to your home. The non-profit foundation is A.F.I.C.E, (www.afice.org) Academic Foundation for International Cultural Exchange. If you are interested, or have questions, please contact Kristi York, AFICE Area Coordinator, 206 387 6554. kyork@spu.edu.
- CIEE is seeking warm and welcoming host families for high school exchange students who will arrive in the area in August 2012. Be a part of this unique educational adventure! Open your heart and your home. Your family will not only gain a new family member, but also learn about a different culture, its values and traditions and more. CIEE high school students stay with their host families for either 1 to 2 semesters (five or ten months) while attending your local high school. CIEE students have their own funds for school lunches, clothing and personal spending needs as well as medical insurance. Please call Lynn at 206-368-0493 and make a difference in our world.
