RHS Class Activities and Fundraising

Do you have questions about the class fundraising activities at RHS, what they support and how you can get involved? You'll find many answers to these questions below. If you have more questions or want to get involved, contact your class representatives listed below. You can volunteer for many of the senior activities on the Volunteer Opt In page.

Why do we have class fundraising at RHS? During the spring of senior year, there are many graduation-related activities at RHS including Senior Luncheon, Graduation, Senior Awards, Senior Prom and Senior Spree (following graduation). These activities are expensive and the cost continues to increase each year. By raising money each year, it increases the possibility that all students who want to attend the senior functions will be able to do so. All monies raised will directly help lower the cost per student and to offer scholarships when needed.

Senior Prom: May

Senior Awards Night: Early June. Senior students will be honored in several categories; including academic and performance excellence, service to the school community, and for receiving scholarships from colleges.

Senior Luncheon: June (day before graduation), directly after graduation practice in the morning.

Graduation: Early June

SPREE: Immediately following the graduation ceremony. These are fun, alcohol- and drug-free, parent-chaperoned all-night activities for seniors following graduation. It is a chance for the entire senior class to get together a final time and celebrate the past four years. Students load buses with parent chaperones following graduation and are taken to various locations around the area. The night's activities are kept secret in order to surprise the graduates, increase safety, and limit participation to only our graduating seniors.

What do parents and guardians do to support these fundraising activities at RHS? Each class has a group of parent representatives who volunteer for four years to help with fundraising activities for their class. These groups are typically formed at the beginning of the freshman year.

Who are the student class representatives? Each year, students elect student representatives for each class to help with many school activities and specific class activities. Ms. Boswell mentors the class representatives throughout the year.

How do dances help with fundraising? Each class is responsible for organizing and coordinating the following dances. The student class representatives are responsible for planning these dances and are supported by the parent representatives and other parent/guardian volunteers. Net proceeds from the dance are given to the hosting class's fundraising account.

Home Coming - October - Hosted by the Senior Class
Winter Ball - December - Hosted by the Sophomore Class
Tolo - January/February - Hosted by the Junior Class
Senior Prom - May/June - Hosted by the Senior Class

How can I contact other parents in my student's class? At the beginning of each school year, students and parents/guardians may opt-in to have their contact information included in the RHS Class Directory. These directories are only for school use, not external use.

What are the fundraising activities for each class and who are the class reps? Each class plans the types of fundraising activities that they want to be involved in for their graduating class. These activities can range from a mailing campaign where families contribute financially, adult parties and dinners, parent/student fundraising activities, sales of RHS products such as seat cushions, Teddy Bears, flower bulbs, etc.

What are the other fundraising activities at RHS? The PTSA-sponsored fundraising includes Class Fundraising in addition to the school-wide PTSA-sponsored No Bake Bake Sale annual mailing campaign in the fall and annual PTSA membership in September. There are also many other parent groups who help raise funds to support specific arts, sports and academic organizations at RHS.
