What's That Acronym?

ASR - Associated Students of Roosevelt. ASR is a year-round leadership course in which elected student officers and appointed officials meet to plan and organize various school events including Roughrider Day, Homecoming, Prom, fundraisers and other school wide activities. The purpose of the class is to provide academic leadership skills and the time and resources to plan, implement and evaluate these events and activities.

BLT - Building Leadership Team. Made up of staff, students and parents, this committee meets weekly to discuss building-wide issues including school-wide events, attendance, student activities and school climate. Also responsible for providing leadership and direction for professional development, the school budget and the school improvement (transformation) plan.

GG - Golden Grads - Roosevelt alumni who graduated fifty or more years ago.

IC - Instructional Council. Slightly different from BLT, it includes all department heads, head librarian, head counselor, activity coordinator, student body president, and a student representative. The IC provides leadership and direction to the school's instructional program, including looking at new course proposals, classroom policies, current best practices, etc.

PTSA - Parent Teacher Student Association. PTSA supports our school and our students by: fundraising for programs, equipment, and support staff; providing teacher grants and staff appreciation; sponsoring enrichment programs and activities; providing parenting classes for the community; coordinating and serving as volunteers; publishing parent newsletter and email bulletins; influencing legislation on behalf of children; and making the school a better place to learn.

RF - Roosevelt Foundation. The Roosevelt High School Foundation, including staff, alumni, parents and neighbors, believe in the right of all students to a quality, personalized, public education that promotes academic excellence and helps students build the necessary skills, knowledge and self-esteem to become successful life-long learners and productive citizens. The Foundation Board is committed to providing resources to support the academic, athletic, extracurricular and enrichment needs of all students enrolled at Roosevelt High School.

RHS - Roosevelt High School. You are here.

SC - Site Council. Focuses on supporting "academic achievement and responsible citizenship for all RHS students in a world-class, student-focused learning environment." Membership includes parents, community members, teachers and students. Serves as an advocate for the school within the surrounding community.
